Concepts of Inner Astrology
Yogis of ancient India correlated 6 planets in the solar system with the chakras, this spinal alignment of yogic philosophy paired with the sacred science of Astrology was intended as a tool to help a person achieve God consciousness.
The six chakra/spinal centres represent a planet in the solar system and it’s ruling signs, and as per astrological philosophy there are positive and negative signs. Positive signs bring one’s consciousness UP the spine, enhancing spiritual awareness, whereas the negative signs, if used irresponsibly, sink one into deeper levels of unconsciousness.
The Root Chakra – Ruled by Saturn
Saturn represents time, karma and conditioning a person contends with from past experiences. Mastering Saturn, at your root chakra, supports learning from your past, letting it go and no longer allowing it to define you.
In the positive = Aquarius; an energy that liberates one’s consciousness from the illusion of the past. When the kundalini awakening occurs at the base of the spine, one begins to be defined by a vision of their future (Aquarius) rather than their past (Capricorn)
In the negative = Capricorn; an energy that is stable and grounding but, it is also associated with love of materialism and falling for the illusion of time and space, which are responsible for experiences of separation from God and one another.
The Sacral Chakra – Ruled by Jupiter
Jupiter represents belief systems and one’s higher self. The higher self speaks to us through our intuitive perception but one cannot perceive intuition clearly until the emotions are calmed.
In the positive = Sagittarius; an expansive energy channeled into creative endeavours through which the individual becomes a clear channel for the nonlinear wisdom of their higher self. Also represented by Jupiter is Krishna, the Christ Consciousness, which is the inner, intuitive guides one to right action and to their destiny in life.
In the negative = Pisces; an energy that is imaginative and highly intuitive. However, if not channeled correctly creates emotional distortions and delusions, generating phobias and misconceptions of self and one’s experiences and causes additions and unhealthy habits.
The Solar Plexus – Ruled by Mars
Mars represents one’s will, actions, determination and energy. All energy is fundamentally neutral until one does something with it. Acting wisely, calmly but also full of energy and optimism and most importantly, integrity is key to using Mars correctly.
In the positive = Aries; is fiery and inspired action, represents one’s passion, and acting on one’s passion leads them to their purpose. Discipline and self control are also important.
In the negative = Scorpio; an energy that can transform and enlighten, when misaligned, the plethora of sexual desires become priority, wasting away one’s subtle life force energy. Sex is not a bad thing but must be practised sincerely, with love, respect and self respect, this raises the vibration of the Scorpio.
The Heart Chakra – Ruled by Venus
Venus represents love, beauty, money and sensitivity. It is the potential to transform human love into divine love. When your love is centered on someone or something, that limits the expression of pure love manifesting in you.
In the positive = Taurus; is all about stability and emotional stability. Divine love see’s everyone and everything as an extension of the greater self. To see yourself in others yet not allow their perception to obscure your God given individuality.
In the negative = Libra; energy use incorrectly, is defined by the beliefs and opinions of other people. The heart then becomes a slave to the emotions of others. Staying consistent in your identity around others is key. Through self realization, one realizes the selfless state of pure consciousness.
The Throat Chakra – Ruled by Mercury
Mercury represents communication and perception. Depending on whether the energy is moving up or down, can indicate a channel for divine wisdom or for the collective unconsciousness.
In the positive = Gemini; energy of communication. True spiritual progress is that one’s voice reflects the calmness one has achieved because of their mastery; it becomes softer, gentle, but also radiates power. When used correctly, this energy enables one to become a messenger of the heavens to humanity.
In the negative = Virgo; energy of perception and purity, if channelled correctly but if misused, this energy sinks one deeper and deeper into body consciousness; being defined wholly through matter and by what can be perceived with their limited five senses.
The Third-Eye Chakra – Ruled by the Sun & Moon
For the 3rd eye chakra there are the 2 luminaries of astrology assigned. One at the medulla at the base of the brain (moon) and at the point between the eyebrows (sun), the givers of light.
In the positive = Leo; frontal lobe in the brain, of super conscious awareness and true perception from the illusory, emotional residue of one’s past experiences.
In the negative = Cancer; energy of managing one’s emotional state with awareness, if channeled incorrectly, one becomes enmeshed in emotional memories and disempowering habits as the subconscious takes over.
